Statewide Elections

President of the United States
The two front runners in the 2024 Presidential Election already seem to be shaping up to look like a familiar contest. Former President Donald Trump will more than likely be running against President Joe Biden (incumbent) in November.

Ohio’s U.S. Senator
Despite it being a Primary, this is still one of Ohio’s biggest elections for the GOP. Two well-known politicians, State Sen. Matt Dolan (R-Cuyahoga) and Secretary of State Frank LaRose, along with one businessman, Bernie Moreno, are running against each other this year.
The winner will run against Democratic incumbent Sherrod Brown, who has held his position since 2007.
Each GOP candidate has dozens of endorsements from prominent politicians and organizations.

Justice of the Ohio Supreme Court
Hamilton County Common Pleas Court Judge Megan Shanahan (R) is running against Ohio Supreme Court Justice Michael Donnelly (D) for a six-year term.
Republican Justice Joe Deters will run against incumbent Democratic Justice Melody Stewart. Before he was appointed to the court, Deters was the Hamilton County Prosecutor.
Democrats Ohio Eighth District Court of Appeals Judge Lisa Forbes and Ohio Tenth District Court of Appeals Judge Terri Jamison will go head-to-head for a chance to fill a vacant seat. The GOP candidate is Franklin County Common Pleas Court Judge Daniel Hawkins.

Womens History Month

Bobbi Gibb was the first woman to run a marathon

After signing up for the Boston Marathon in 1966, Bobbi was disqualified from the race because of her gender. She received a letter of rejection that stated women were β€œnot physiologically able to run a marathon.” In fact, women were not allowed to run more than 1.5 miles at the time because they were a β€œliability,” according to the Amateur Athletics Union. On the day of the race, Bobbi hid in a bush near the starting line and secretly joined the race, finishing in three hours, 21 minutes, and 40 seconds, becoming the first woman to run a marathon at just 23 years old.
