BADIN HIGH SCHOOL STADIUM PROJECT KICKS OFF

The initiative known as "Building a Brighter Badin" commenced today with the official groundbreaking ceremony for the Lanni Family Stadium at Matandy Sports Complex.

Badin President Brian Pendergest '90 expressed his anticipation for this momentous occasion, marking nearly six decades of aspiration at Badin High School to have its own stadium. Pendergest acknowledged the generosity of donors, emphasizing the significance of moving forward with such a substantial project.

Under the guidance of Conger Construction Group of Lebanon, the stadium build will progress in two phases adjacent to the co-ed Catholic high school on New London Road in Hamilton.

Phase 1 entails the construction of two fields – the stadium field and a practice field west of the stadium, both featuring full synthetic playing surfaces. Additionally, Phase 1 includes an all-weather competition track encircling the stadium field, along with facilities such as locker rooms, restrooms, a concession stand, press box, home-side bleachers, scoreboard, and lighting.

Phase 2 will encompass developments east of the track, including visitor bleachers, an additional concession stand and restrooms, an east-side entrance to the stadium from the school’s upper parking lot, an alumni meeting room, and a maintenance building.

With a budget of $15 million, Pendergest indicated that approximately $3 million more is required to complete the project entirely. He expressed confidence in the continued support of benefactors throughout the Phase 1 process.

Beyond the stadium construction, the "Build A Brighter Badin" project includes plans for a Military and First Responders Memorial and a grotto to the Virgin Mary, financed separately by alumni families.

Badin has continually enhanced its facilities over the past two decades, with notable additions such as the Pfirman Family Activity Center in 2005 and the Student Development Center in 2020. Pendergest emphasized the school's commitment to enhancing offerings for students and families, underscoring the transformative impact of the stadium project.

Having played at various stadiums over the years, including Garfield Stadium, Schwarm Stadium, and others, Badin anticipates a new era of excellence with the prospect of hosting home games on its own field. The logistical challenges of scheduling and traveling for home games will be alleviated, fostering a more cohesive and accessible experience for student-athletes.

Preliminary work on the stadium project has already commenced with the construction of a new parking lot west of the school on New London Road. This development, totaling 346 parking spots, necessitated the acquisition of adjacent properties to meet lighting and drainage requirements.

Despite the intricacies involved, Pendergest expressed optimism about the project's progress and its promising impact on the future of Badin High School events. The school aims to host home football and soccer games at the new complex starting in the fall of 2025, with the possibility of a home track meet in the spring of the same year, pending successful completion of the project.

Numerous Hamilton Graduates Anticipated to Embrace Free Tuition Opportunity at Miami Hamilton

Wonderful news is on the horizon for students at Hamilton High School, Butler Tech, and Stephen T. Badin Catholic High School as they embark on their journey towards higher education. Thanks to the Miami Regionals Hamilton Promise, a heartwarming collaboration between the Hamilton Community Foundation, Miami University Regionals, and the City of Hamilton, eligible students will have the incredible opportunity to pursue their dreams with free tuition for 2-year or 4-year degrees at Miami Hamilton.

This initiative aims to support Pell-Grant eligible students who have attended one of these esteemed schools in Hamilton for four years, while also being a resident of Hamilton throughout their high school journey. With a cumulative high school GPA of 2.5 or higher, along with the completion of the FAFSA by April 1, 2024, these students can step into their future without the burden of tuition fees at Miami Hamilton.

Jacob Stone-Welch, the compassionate director of donor services for Hamilton Community Foundation, joyfully announces the commencement of this promise starting this fall, allowing graduating high school seniors to apply for the scholarship for the fall semester of 2024.

Understanding the financial considerations of higher education, it's heartening to know that Pell-Grant eligible students will receive support based on various factors such as their Expected Family Contribution, cost of attendance, and student status. While precise figures are yet to be determined, it's estimated that approximately 50-100 students will benefit from this program annually.

Thanks to the generous contribution of $663,000 over five years from the Hamilton Community Foundation, this initiative is set to make a meaningful impact on the lives of countless students in the community.

Trevor House, an admission counselor for Miami Regionals Office of Admissions, shares his enthusiasm for the opportunities this program presents to students. He expresses his excitement for the students of Hamilton High School and Badin High School, recognizing the potential for them to pursue higher education without the financial strain, provided they meet the necessary criteria.

This promise not only paves the way for students to achieve their academic aspirations but also fosters personal growth and development. As Jacob Stone-Welch aptly puts it, "Educational attainment is a leading factor in the success of any individual, but whenever you translate that across many individuals, it also impacts our whole community." We are truly honored to be a part of this transformative program that empowers students and strengthens our community as a whole.

St. Ann Church in Hamilton, Ohio, stands as a beacon of faith and architectural splendor, overcoming financial turmoil to become a cherished landmark.

Established in 1908

St. Ann Church is not just a place of worship but a historical landmark that encapsulates Hamilton's rich history and the community's spirit. The church's ability to maintain traditions, such as the use of real candles, amidst modern changes, speaks to its role as a pillar of continuity and faith. As Hamilton's largest neighborhood, Lindenwald, and its manufacturing roots have evolved, St. Ann Church remains a constant, inviting parishioners and visitors to appreciate its beauty and heritage.
