Hamilton! Thrive Issue #161
June 24th - Heat Emergency Extended !!π₯π₯π₯
Congrats, you just joined the best newsletter in Hamilton! |
Welcome to the Hamilton Thrive Newsletter! We bring you the juiciest local news and events every weekday at 6 AM. Unlike my days delivering the Northwest Press ποΈ on my bicycle, it will arrive quietly in your inbox, not in the bushes by the front door! π€£ |
You might be wondering, "What makes Hamilton Thrive different from all the other newsletters out there?" Great question. |
For starters, we have a strict no-boring policy. Even if we're writing about βexcitingβ topics like budgets and road closures. We keep it interesting like watching PeeWee baseball! |
So when can you expect to start getting these enthralling emails? 6 AM of whatever is the closest weekday. In the meantime, we'd like to get to know whatβs going on in your world. We have a Community Billboard where we will post your events, yard sales, reunions, birthdays, etc. Send an email with your happenings to [email protected] |
I'm looking forward to sharing all the Hamilton happenings with you. If you just can't wait to read the Thrive, you can read any of our back issues here. |
I have made some changes to the format to address the suggestions that were made. My number one goal is your satisfaction. Remember - majority rules. Make your voice heard at [email protected]
Sincerely,
Joe Enderle, Editor In Chief - Hamilton Thrive

YOUR Lindenwald Community Council, PROTOCOL (People Reaching Out To Others: Celebrate Our Lindenwald), met on Monday, June 17th, 6:30pm, The Nature Center, 101 Joe Nuxhall Way. The air conditioned facility was a welcome place to meet considering the heat we have been experiencing. Thanks Hamilton Parks Conservancy!!!
After introductions, HPD Officer Corey Nunn said they continue to address speeding issues in Lindenwald and there are two areas of interest related to possible drug activity. Attendees expressed concerns over speeding particularly along the Pleasant Ave. business corridor between Fitton and Forest Aves., where the speed limit drops from 35 to 25 mph. There was also a concern about activity after hours in City Parks. They close at dusk. Former HPD Chief Bucheit, now Hamilton City Manager, addressed speeding throughout the City also and talked about the street repaving that will be taking place in 2024. Familiarize yourself with this at https://www.hamilton-oh.gov/pavingschedule.
City Health Commissioner Cindy Hogg outlined her program to instill healthier eating habits in our City Youth through reading and hands-on incentives. It will begin with 5 - 8 year olds and she hopes to eventually engage teens who could even grow their own produce.
Kathy Klink updated us on 17 Strong/Department of Neighborhoods efforts; notably the Neighborhoods Summit to be held this Saturday, June 22 at Hamilton High. Of Particular interest to Lindenwald residents were the four nano-grants given to Linden Elementary 5th graders who will act on them as sixth graders. Mark Motz (Fitton Center Photographer) has been assigned to tell The Lindenwald Story for the 17 Strong "Photo Focus." Eventually all 17 Neighborhoods will be displayed at The Fitton Center. In Lindenwald also, there will be a "Coffee With Council '' held at 10:00am on Saturday, July 20th, Lindenwald Park (Minor, Benninghofen, Weller and Madison Aves.. City Council Members and City Staff will be there to meet with residents. The regularly scheduled Litter Patrol clean-up will be moved to 9:00 that morning. Check out their fb page for additional details. Other 17 Strong efforts can be found at their website https://www.17stronghamilton.org.
Plans move ahead for the former Woolen Mill to seek Ohio tax credits for restoration efforts, along with other resources. City Manager Bucheit said there are still funding gaps that need to be filled in to push the project forward.. Renovations for the former Roemer Hardware Building are waiting on floor plans are so Saurber Construction can install plumbing for restrooms and the kitchen. The property at 640 Williams Ave., the former Linden Lanes, will be demolished. CM Bucheit said he will push to hasten the process, preferring the City to demo it now and collect Land Bank Money on the backside. The small "lean to" type building to the S of 2255 Pleasant is also scheduled to come down making way for a possible pocket park.
The Lindenwald Litter Patrol continues to hold monthly, one hour cleanups on the third Saturday of the month. They are maintaining the 11 planter boxes along Pleasant Ave. and have mulched several of the tree wells along that same stretch as The Tree Board lacks funds for ongoing maintenance.
A Lindenwald PorchFest continues to move closer to becoming a reality thanks to collaborative efforts with the River's Edge crew and funding from the Lindenwald Civic Association
Peggy Kollstedt said "Art In The Park" continues at Benninghofen (splash pad" Park. However attendance has been minimal and they would love to have more participation for this "free" event. Like their fb page for more details.
Joe Enderle, "THRIVE, " has changed the format of his daily newsletter, is looking to increase subscriptions and he provided PROTOCOL with a beautiful graphic that we now use in our communications. https://hamiltonthrive.com/subscribe?ref=vjkXZXVfVO
Councilman Tim Naab talked about the Veterans Banner effort which continues to grow in popularity.
YOUR next scheduled meeting is set for Monday, August 19th, The Nature Center Center, 101 Joe Nuxhall Way and will include HPD hosting a cookout for attendees prior to the meeting. Among agenda speakers will be Mark Motz (Photo Focus Lindenwald) and Adan Cornette, Hamilton Parks Conservancy.
Respectfully Submitted
