So when can you expect to start getting these enthralling emails? 6 AM of whatever is the closest weekday. In the meantime, we'd like to get to know whatโ€™s going on in your world. We have a Community Billboard where we will post your events, yard sales, reunions, birthdays, etc. Send an email with your happenings to [email protected]

City of Hamilton
May 15, 2024

The City of Hamilton Department of Public Works - Gas and Water Distribution Division is required by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Code of Federal Regulation Title 49, Part 192 to periodically conduct leakage and an atmospheric corrosion surveys on all natural gas piping up to the outlet of the natural gas meter.
The 2024 Gas Leak Survey will begin in May and is anticipated to be complete in August. Please click HERE for an online map to determine if your address is part of the 2024 Gas Leak Survey.

The Notification Process
The City of Hamilton has hired Southern Cross to conduct this survey. The employees performing the survey will have proper ID with them. The inspection takes approximately five to ten minutes to complete and will require access to the inside or outside natural gas meter and associated natural gas piping.

Typically, on the day of the survey, the representatives will stop by the residence and request access to the inside or outside natural gas meter and the associated natural gas piping. The survey is conducted Monday through Friday 8am to 4:30pm. If no one is at the residence, a door hanger will be left informing the resident to call the City of Hamilton to schedule the inside natural gas meter inspection.

If an inside natural gas meter is not inspected, the natural gas service to the property will be disconnected after further notification has been provided to the resident. A $50 trip fee will be accessed to the residentโ€™s utility bill if the City of Hamilton completes a disconnection. The City of Hamilton will provide three notices to the resident prior to the natural gas service to the property being shut off.

If your residence does not have natural gas service, please disregard this notice.

Experience a Journey Through Time Sunday: The Dayton Lane Historic District's May Promenade

This Sunday, May 19th, a remarkable event unfolds in Hamilton, Ohio. Itโ€™s a day when guests step back into history, enveloped in live music, elegant gentlemen donning dapper attire, antique bicycles gliding gracefully, and breathtaking sights adorning the streets of the Dayton Lane Historic District.

This Sunday, nearly a dozen properties will unveil their stories to curious visitors, offering a glimpse into the rich tapestry of Hamilton's past. Some of the locations are veterans of the tour, some have been dormant; there are also some new arrivals on the scene.

The May Promenade, presented by the Dayton Lane Historic District, is a self-guided walking tour of historic homes, set against the backdrop of a bygone era. Each ticket grants access to a horse-drawn carriage ride, adding an extra touch of nostalgia to the experience. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $20 or on the day of the event for $25 by visiting THIS SITE

Amidst the revitalization efforts in the city, the May Promenade serves as a beacon of Hamiltonโ€™s romantic past, drawing both locals and visitors alike to appreciate our history and heritage.

From contemporary marvels to Victorian gems like the Benninghofen House, the tour offers a diverse array of architectural wonders. Trinity Episcopal Church, a venerable institution, opens its doors to curious souls, adding another layer of historical depth to the promenade.

The festivities extend beyond mere sightseeing. The Fort Hamilton Jazz Band serenades attendees as they wander from location to location, while high-wheel cyclists from Ohio Wheelmen evoke the spirit of yesteryear. Campbell Avenue Park hosts games, and the entire neighborhood pulsates with the energy of camaraderie and celebration.

Nestled within the Dayton Lane Historic District lies a community like no other. Its homes, built predominantly in the 1880s and 1890s, exude an eclectic charm, reflecting the diverse backgrounds of its inhabitants. Each house in the neighborhood speaks for itself, telling tales of the inspirations that generated unique architectures and expressive designs. Come listen to the silent stories that each structure expresses. Uniqueness and differentiation are the commonality that stitches this neighborhood together. Neither sameness nor repetition of design exist here and that really sets these homes apart.

More than just a stroll through history, the May Promenade serves a noble cause. All proceeds from the event support the Dayton Lane Historic District, ensuring the preservation of its architectural treasures and public spaces. Through their efforts, the district also extends a helping hand to other community groups, embodying the spirit of solidarity and generosity.

For over 25 years, the May Promenade has captivated the hearts of history enthusiasts, potential homebuyers, antique collectors, and wanderers from afar. Held every two years, it stands as a testament to the enduring allure of Hamilton's past and the timeless beauty of its historic district. As guests embark on this journey through time, they become part of a story that transcends generations, weaving together the threads of the past, present, and future.

Natural Health and Nutrition Tips That Are Evidence-Based

Feed your gut bacteria

The bacteria in your gut, collectively called the gut microbiota, are incredibly important for overall health.

A disruption in gut bacteria is linked to some chronic diseases, including obesity and a myriad of digestive problems.

Good ways to improve gut health include eating fermented foods like yogurt and sauerkraut, taking probiotic supplements โ€” when indicated โ€” and eating plenty of fiber. Notably, fiber serves as a prebiotic, or a food source for your gut bacteria.
