‘Lion, Witch and Wardrobe’ at Fitton Center Tonight At 7:30
The Fitton Center for Creative Arts is set to host a captivating rendition of the beloved classic "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" by Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park this upcoming weekend. As part of their Off the Hill Touring Play series, this production promises to infuse new energy into C.S. Lewis's timeless tale.
Ian MacKenzie-Thurley, the executive director of the Fitton Center, highlighted the significance of this event, marking it as the final show of the Fitton Family Fridays series for the current season. He noted that this production will be a memorable conclusion before the hiatus until September, when the new season begins.
For many, C.S. Lewis's narrative holds a special place in their hearts, cherished across generations. MacKenzie-Thurley expressed anticipation for the magic that will unfold on the Fitton Center stage, emphasizing the significance of bringing such a cherished story to life in a theatrical setting.
Scheduled for Friday at 7:30 p.m., tickets for the performance are priced at $7 for Fitton Center members and $9 for non-members, with a nominal $1 ticketing fee. Prior to the show, attendees are invited to a complimentary reception hosted by Two Women in a Kitchen, featuring kid-friendly refreshments, starting at 6:30 p.m. Those interested in attending can purchase tickets through the Fitton Center website.
MacKenzie-Thurley underscored the communal aspect of experiencing live theater, emphasizing the opportunity for families and neighbors to come together and immerse themselves in a shared, tangible experience devoid of screens or digital distractions.
"The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" transports audiences to the enchanting realm of Narnia, a world brimming with talking animals, mythical beings, and perpetual winter under the reign of the White Witch. The story follows the courageous journey of Lucy, a young girl who stumbles into Narnia through a magical wardrobe, setting in motion a prophecy and heralding significant change.
Beyond entertainment, the Fitton Family Fridays series offers a diverse range of performances and interactive events tailored for families. From local children's theater productions to puppet shows, live ballet, musical theater, and orchestral performances, the series aims to provide enriching experiences for all ages.
MacKenzie-Thurley commended the talented performers and underscored their appreciation for the warm reception from audiences at the Fitton Center. He highlighted the interactive elements of the series, allowing children to engage with actors, performers, and musicians, gaining insights into the behind-the-scenes workings of theatrical productions through Q&A sessions and interactive experiences.

Make Sleep A Priority
Sleep is vital for every process in your body. Sleep is a time for your body to repair cells and restore energy. Your brain also performs many essential functions while you’re sleeping, like storing information, removing waste, and strengthening nerve cell connections.
How much sleep you need depends on your age, but for most adults, the CDC recommendsTrusted Source at least 7 or more hours of sleep each night. Children and older adults typically need more sleep.
If you don’t get enough sleep, your body will have a harder time working properly. Sleep deprivation can increase your riskTrusted Source of:
type 2 diabetes
anxiety, depression, mood changes
a weakened immune system
some types of cancer
So, how can you ensure you get enough sleep? Some things that may help include the following:
Create a quiet, dark, comfortable sleep environment: Use an eye mask or black-out curtains to block light, turn down the thermostat — a temperature between 60°F to 67°F (15.6°C to 9.4°C) — is best for sleeping, and make sure your mattress and pillows are comfortable. Use earplugs if you need to block out noise.
Avoid screen time before bed: Many electronic devices emit blue light that can keep your brain alert, making it harder to fall asleep. Turn off these devices at least an hour before you go to bed.
Create a relaxing bedtime routine: Instead of watching TV or working on a computer, do something to help you relax. Take a warm bath or shower, try gentle stretches, read a book (not an e-reader), or try meditation or breathing techniques.
Limit your caffeine, alcohol, and nicotine intake: Avoid drinking alcohol or smoking within 4 hours of going to bed as both substances can negatively impact your sleep. Limit your caffeine intake to the morning hours.
Try a natural sleep aid: If you find it difficult to switch your mind off at night, try a natural sleep aid like melatonin, valerian root, or glycine.
