Man accused of stabbing his girlfriend to death in Hamilton wants to represent himself
Last month a Hamilton man accused of killing his longtime girlfriend in October 2022 told the judge he would “do my own trial” after he turned down his fifth attorney’s request to withdraw from the case.
Next week, Toby Madden and his defense attorney will be back in Butler County Common Pleas Court when Judge Jennifer McElfresh will consider the attorney’s renewed request to get off the case, stating Madden wants to represent himself.

Animal Friends Humane Society (AFHS) was established in 1952 and is Butler County’s largest, oldest non-profit animal shelter. Our mission is to promote humane principles, to protect lost, homeless, abandoned and mistreated animals, and to act as advocates for animals in our communities. In 2009, AFHS relocated from its outdated facility in Trenton and now occupies a 22,500 sq. foot facility with top-notch amenities for its shelter population in Hamilton, Ohio. By adopting nationally recognized best practices for animal shelters, AFHS has been successful in maintaining high live release rates and is committed to providing individual care to local pets in need. Your support helps the more than 5,000 animals that enter our doors each year.

Hey folks, check this out!
Wildfire Hygge Goods + Home, owned by Sarah Dankhoff, had a killer year in 2023. You'd think she'd be keeping the good times rolling at her High Street gift shop, right? Well, guess what – she's shaking things up!
Dankhoff spilled the beans that the 226 High St. spot will be shutting its doors on Jan. 27. Now, you might be wondering why she's making this move. Turns out, by ditching the High Street joint, she's setting the stage to hit the big leagues at her store on 127 N. Second St., the one that opened its doors a couple of years back.
No more juggling two stores means Dankhoff can ditch the light hours. Starting February, Wildfire's doors will be swinging open with extended hours. Closed on Mondays for photoshoots and rearranging stuff, but open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays.
And for all you bargain hunters out there, mark your calendars! From Jan. 16 until the final closing, Wildfire's High Street shop is the place to be for some killer deals. Discounted goodies galore, just like their epic street sales. This is one change worth keeping an eye on!
