Hamilton! Thrive Issue #158
June 19th - Gonna Be A Steamy Juneteenth !!๐
Congrats, you just joined the best newsletter in Hamilton! |
Welcome to the Hamilton Thrive Newsletter! We bring you the juiciest local news and events every weekday at 6 AM. Unlike my days delivering the Northwest Press ๐๏ธ on my bicycle, it will arrive quietly in your inbox, not in the bushes by the front door! ๐คฃ |
You might be wondering, "What makes Hamilton Thrive different from all the other newsletters out there?" Great question. |
For starters, we have a strict no-boring policy. Even if we're writing about โexcitingโ topics like budgets and road closures. We keep it interesting like watching PeeWee baseball! |
So when can you expect to start getting these enthralling emails? 6 AM of whatever is the closest weekday. In the meantime, we'd like to get to know whatโs going on in your world. We have a Community Billboard where we will post your events, yard sales, reunions, birthdays, etc. Send an email with your happenings to [email protected] |
I'm looking forward to sharing all the Hamilton happenings with you. If you just can't wait to read the Thrive, you can read any of our back issues here. |
I have made some changes to the format to address the suggestions that were made. My number one goal is your satisfaction. Remember - majority rules. Make your voice heard at [email protected]
Sincerely,
Joe Enderle, Editor In Chief - Hamilton Thrive

I love getting messages from my readers ! Got this message about the Hamilton Joe Baseball Game on Thursday Night :
โHamilton Joe's was a 3 night thriller! I know no one on the team. & nobody else there either. There was nothing good on TV, the weather was made for nice evenings. The refreshments were great. Tonight Gapper from the Reds showed up. We all had fun & the price was right. Check it out!โ
Thank you Darla

"Plans for Bloomfield/Schon to redevelop the former Shuler Benninghofen Textile Mill are moving forward at this time.
They will be applying for tax credits this fall and City of Hamilton officials met with them on Monday to kick off the Shuler Benninghofen economic impact study which we are working on with UC for the TMUD (Transformational Mixed Use Development) application that opens in July.
The biggest piece we are waiting to hear back on is the SCIF (Strategic Community Investment Fund) dollars from the Ohio Senate. It would be most helpful for everyone receiving this to send a message to Senator George Lang asking him to support SCIF dollars for the Shuler Benninghofen project. https://ohiosenate.gov/members/george-f-lang/contact"
It may be too late to get additional dollars from the Senate, the plan to finalize has already taken place, but won't hurt to send,
Thanks In Advance

Today, several local nonprofits have come together to ensure Juneteenth is properly honored. The day kicks off with a parade starting at 11:30 a.m. from the Booker T. Washington Community Center. We'll march proudly to the sand park near the Fire Department on Chestnut Street, where the festivities will continue with a lively block party.
Shereka Mcghee, a passionate organizer and president of Bway Angels, expressed disappointment over the cancellation but emphasized our resilience in planning and hosting this event ourselves. "I just think itโs important for our culture," Mcghee remarked, highlighting the significance of Juneteenth to our community.
Joining forces with us are dedicated organizations like Father Your Hood, Make Hamilton Great Again, Neighborhood Heroes, and Itb Studios. Tyrome Bembry from Father Your Hood spoke about their commitment to celebrating Juneteenth as a pivotal moment in our history. "For our organization, there was no way we werenโt going to celebrate Juneteenth," Bembry affirmed, echoing the sentiment shared across our community.
Vince Sanford of Make Hamilton Great Again conveyed the community's spirit in rallying for this event despite setbacks. "This effort is a testament to the community's commitment to preserving the cultural and historical significance of Juneteenth," Sanford stated proudly.
Thanks to the City of Hamilton's support with a special event permit and street closures, our block party will continue until 8 p.m., ensuring a day filled with joy, reflection, and unity.
This Juneteenth, as we come together to celebrate freedom and honor our ancestors, we affirm our resilience and commitment to keeping our traditions alive. Join us as we mark this important day in our own Hamilton way.
